The 1st ever NotWedding Birmingham is tomorrow night!

Tomorrow night is the 1st ever Birmingham NotWedding, and Spindle Photography is one of the featured vendors! I have admired photos from the events (that began in Atlanta in 2008) over the years, and as soon as the event was announced in Birmingham, Morgan Trinker and I leapt on board! While the idea of a traditional bridal show is not really my speed (especially given the personal connection I strive to have with my clients), The NotWedding is a nontraditional bridal show with a faux wedding ceremony (which serves as a vow renewal for the real couple, who are newlyweds!), dinner, and a dancing reception. You get to see a lot of local vendors in action, get inspired for your wedding, and then have a chance to meet the vendors in the ‘Tunnel of Love’. This will be the first time that I will have attended a NotWedding and I’m really excited to also be behind the scenes!

DIY shibori tie-dye party wedding inspiration by Spindle Photography

In preparation for the event, I was responsible for planning and photographing a styled shoot that would serve as an example of a pre-wedding event that tied in the theme for this NotWedding: Shibori/Indigo Tie-Dye. This was maybe the most fun styled shoot I’ve been a part of so far, mostly because of all the amazing help I had from the vendors involved since I was planning from France! While I was abroad I designed the fun watercolor stripe invitation, went pinterest crazy (I will open my board up to the public once the shoot has been published in case you want some shibori inspiration for your own wedding or daily/crafting life!). I loved the DIY aspect of the party (our idea was to style a party where the bride could invite friends to help her make shibori napkins for the wedding), and I love how all of the details came together!

I’d love to meet some of you tomorrow night, so if you are engaged, almost engaged, one of my current clients, or just a fangirl (or boy!), head on over to this link to buy your tickets! The event will begin at 7pm at Bridge Street Gallery, and the dress code is hip wedding attire, so pull out your cutest frock and come dance with us (I WILL be dancing at some point, there’s no way around that)!
