Elizabeth & Trey : Classic Birmingham, Alabama Spring Wedding
Posted on May 28th, 2014 by Kelly Cummings in Birmingham AL, wedding
This year has been a crazy beautiful whirlwind so far! I still have lots of catching up to do but I’m excited to start this year off with such a beautiful spring wedding from this March! Elizabeth and Trey had such a gorgeous wedding, from Elizabeth’s two piece Monique Lhuillier gown to the long blush pink bridesmaid dresses, golden yellow ribboned programs, to the heartfelt ceremony. I’m so grateful to all of the people involved in making the day such a wonderful celebration of love, and to Mary Margaret Smith for assisting me! Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the post for vendor information and some words of wisdom from the bride, Elizabeth!

Q&A with the bride, Elizabeth!
How did the two of you meet and when did you know this was it?!
Trey and I have known each other since we were little, growing up in the same church. We always knew of each other, but were never more than acquaintances. We went to rival high schools in Birmingham and both to the University of Alabama, but didn’t start dating until after college when Trey asked me on a dinner date. After our first date, we dated for a little bit over 2 years until we got engaged!
Tell me about the day: The feel of it, the colors/theme, special details.
It was the perfect day! I wanted a very soft, romantic and classic feel to our wedding day, with a touch of whimsy. My love for blush colored tulips, cream hydrangeas and roses had a lot to do with the choice of my color theme.
What was most important to you when you were wedding planning?
I am a very person detailed and put a lot of thought into every part of the wedding 🙂 My dress was important to me and making sure it fit with the whole look of the day. It was also so special to get to wear my moms veil that she wore when she married my dad 38 years ago! Invitations were also very important to me – thankfully we have a great family friend who is a wonderful calligrapher, Jan Pruitt. The calligraphy mixed letterpress from Press Charming, I thought the look of the invitations suite was beautiful! The flowers were also very important to me, I wanted a soft and romantic look, and Susan Huff definitely saw my vision!
What do you remember most about the day/what are your favorite memories from the day? Did anything surprise you?
I mostly remember seeing Trey for the first time and how exciting it was! Also, walking into the reception and seeing our families and closest friends there to celebrate with us was so much fun! One surprise/stressful part of the day was realizing we had left my veil at the Tutwiler less than an hour before the ceremony! Two groomsmen came to the rescue and delivered it just in time!
What advice would you give other brides now that you’re official?
I would tell every bride to enjoy every step of the planning process. I had so much fun with my mom and sister during planning, I could never ask for a better experience! I would also say to really soak up the whole wedding weekend, from the rehearsal all the way to the reception. It goes by so fast!
