Spindle Photography's 2013 Year of Wedding-ing

2013 has really outdone itself. While it is certainly a lot of work to compile such a massive end of year post, and is difficult to begin such a task, it is so ridiculously fun and rewarding to see all of the couples whose weddings I’ve photographed for the year in one place. With the inclusion of a few detail photos here and there for this recap I’m realizing just how colorful the year has been. In 2013 I photographed 29 couples’ wedding days, and you can see a little sampling of each below. I love the variety of clients I’ve been fortunate enough to work with, from classic color palettes and lace gowns to vintage art deco fetes, rustic, colorful, homemade, quirky, and unconventional weddings. These weddings so reflect the couples they celebrate, and I’ve been so blessed to photograph the beginnings of so many love filled marriages.

This year I photographed two weddings in Nashville (one of my dream wedding locations!), had my first trip ever to Chicago for an amazing engagement session (and absolutely fell in love with the city), photographed an engagement session on a sailboat, danced at a whole lot of receptions (only without my camera when forced by a family member of the bride or groom), photographed a styled shoot for the first time (art deco themed of course), had so much fun that I photographed a second styled shoot that started a hexagon obsession, had the privilege of working with an abundance of amazing vendors, spent a lot of time with some pretty amazing bridal shoes, and spent every day of the year lettering something (hence the header for this post).

The new website might be the biggest accomplishment of the year, (it was certainly the biggest project!), and I am so happy to finally have a custom little nest online for these dreams to live in. The new site reflects so much of my vision for Spindle Photography, my personality, the things that bring me joy, the adventures I want to have, and those that I’ve already been a part of. Nothing could be better than receiving an email from a bride that felt a connection watching my about video (that Kinora Films so beautifully crafted), for a potential client to show up in a striped dress, or to receive an inquiry from a newly engaged gal who loved my pinterest boards. Spindle Photography is still evolving and taking shape but I am so thrilled with the direction this (ad)venture keeps taking me.

Thank you so much to all of you who have been a part of this year, the vendors that work absolute magic and make my life easier, my family and friends, the Curtsy girls group, my website team, my assistants, blog readers, instagram followers, the people that cook so I don’t have to, the artists and authors and calligraphers that inspire me, and most of all the couples in love that are absolutely the reason I love what I do so much. I am so grateful to everyone who has been a part of the best year yet, and I can’t wait to meet 2014!
